Hummingbird - Oil on Sewn canvas 2013 - 7' x 5' x 2" This large painting was created after the death of my dad, Ian Rigg. It was a large and daunting canvas that I thought I could never complete. It took me forever to see the image. When I did, it was the hummingbird - the joyful messenger. In times of sickness and sorrow when the hummingbird appears, healing will soon follow. I conquered that canvas as I moved through my grief. It is one of my favourite pieces. NFS

Cross-Pollination - Oil on Sewn canvas 2010- 3’ x 7’ x 2” Private Commission - two flowers represent the connection between two beautiful people, creating the small flower in the bottom. Commissioned pieces are difficult, but colours can be requested. What emerges is always a collaboration between artist and canvas.

Inception - Oil on Sewn canvas 2004 - 63"x63"x1 3/4" DESTROYED Inception was the very first sewn canvas. I had found the frame in an alley-way in Montreal. I bought a large roll of pre-treated canvas, primed and ready to paint. I then discovered that this frame was 6 feet across, the exact width of the canvas I had purchased. There was no way to stretch the canvas over the edge of the found frame. So I cut the canvas up and sewed it together in a random fashion, asking "what would happen if ...?" The result was this beautiful flower. In 2008 the painting was hung in a restaurant in Port Clements, Haida Gwaii. Though I had almost removed the painting the week before, my van was too small and I left it. The painting was lost forever in the fire.
